Prospectus

THEME:

YorkArts announces a call for proposals.  All curators and emerging curators interested in developing their professional experience seeking a contemporary non-profit exhibition venue are encouraged to submit plans for exhibition in YorkArts’ gallery in early 2012.  Curatorial proposals in which the work contributes to ongoing dialogue about contemporary art are preferred as well as proposals pushing the boundaries of curating in new directions

CALENDAR:

Exhibition Dates:                 February 2 – March 24, 2012

Submission:  NEW EXTENDED deadline September 30, 2011

Notification Date:               October 30, 2011

FEES:

There are no fees to submit a proposal.

YorkArts retains a 30% commission on any sales.

MEDIA:

              Proposals for exhibition may feature work in any medium.

SUBMISSION: 

              All submissions should be formatted according to the guidelines detailed on page two of this prospectus.  Submissions must be mailed or hand delivered.  E-mail entries will not be accepted.

 

PHOTOGRAPHS:  

              YorkArts reserves the right to photograph or otherwise reproduce works in the exhibition for the purpose of press or public information.

LIABILITY:

              YorkArts will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the works while submitted while out of our physical custody such as during shipping.  YorkArts will handle all work with proper diligence and work in the gallery is fully insured for the value listed by the artist.

Submission of proposal for this show is an acknowledgement that you have read the terms of this prospectus and accept and consent

to said terms.

Curatorial Exhibit Submission

Looking to flex those curatorial muscles but lack the necessary means? YorkArts is seeking emerging curators and artists to provide a refreshing and contemporary perspective for their upcoming Curatorial Exhibition. Designed to encourage diversity, YorkArts wishes to lend a creative space in which aspiring curators can develop and present their own concepts in an original way.  Deadline for submission has been extended until September 30, 2011. 

Yorkfest Juried Exhibition 2011

YORKFEST JURIED EXHIBITION

The Yorkfest Juried Exhibition will be on display in YorkArts’ gallery August 11-September 17, 2011. YorkArts will host the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony as the kick-off to Yorkfest events on Friday, August 26 from 6-8 pm.

STANDARDS & ELIGIBILITY
Participation in the Juried Exhibition is open to all artists and crafts persons. Fine art and fine craft in all mediums
are acceptable. Entries must be original and completed within the past two years. Work should be of high quality
and craftsmanship. The final decision of eligibility rests with the juror.

RULES FOR ENTRY
• All entries must be received by 2 pm, Saturday, June 4, 2011.
• All entries must include a completed entry form, on a properly labeled CD

Biological Aesthetics Call for Works

Biological Aesthetics:
September 29, 2011 through November 19, 2011

Biological Aesthetics is open to all artists who's work references biological subject matter, traversing the boundary between science and art.  This exhibit seeks to inject our audience with the notion that science and art are not separate ventures, and that inspiration and innovation are closely linked. All mediums will be considered.
